Do not be deceived by the world
“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” ~Colossians 2:8
Colossians 2:8 in layman’s terms: Warning! Men will ruin you with their philosophy (from seminary schools, universities, their own understanding) and destroy you with their deceit which is rooted in their ego — in their own pride and self-righteousness, after the traditions of men (think pagan holiday celebrations, man-made rituals performed in church houses, the teachings of popular false doctrines), after the ways of learning of this carnal world, and not after the teachings of Jesus Christ and His spiritual Kingdom.
Friend, if the world loves you and your ways; please read John 15:18-27.
Trust no man
“Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: …” ~Micah 7:5
“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.” ~Jeremiah 17:5
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” ~1 John 4:1
“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” ~Matthew 24:24
Blessed is he who trusts in the Lord
“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” ~Psalms 118:8
“Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!” ~Psalms 40:4
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” ~Psalms 37:5
