God the Father is raging mad in Ezekiel chapter 22. Verse 25 is so controversial, the dispensationalist commentator of my KJV Holman Study Bible didn’t even address it in their commentary. In 539 B.C. Babylon, the church’s leaders, priests, prophets and people had become so evil, God could not find even one man among them who is righteous. History will repeat itself.
The prophet Ezekiel penned the book of Ezekiel in the city of Babylon shortly after God called Him in 593 B.C. We know that in the bible, the Old Testament/Old Covenant is a foreshadow of the New Testament/New Covenant (Colossians 2:17).
We are seeing Ezekiel 22 happening today in Mystery Babylon — it is a Jewish-Roman false Christianity which has taken control of the top tier of all religious denominations (proof here) and its ways have trickled down to the individual members.
This article will be covering Ezekiel 22:17-31. KJV scripture will be in bold; commentary will follow in non-bold. The commentary will focus on how Old Testament Babylon relates to today’s Mystery Babylon.
Note: The italicized words in the KJV bible denote words that were not found in the original Hebrew and Greek texts.
Ezekiel Chapter 22:
17 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross:
“Son of man” refers to human beings/the adam-flesh. God is speaking here to Ezekiel.
The fallen house of Israel in Old Testament times symbolizes all people of today who proclaim to be Christian, but are knowingly or unknowingly practicing false Christianity. Unknowingly practicing false Christianity happens due to a lack of knowledge from not knowing God’s Word (Hosea 4:6).
Dross is the scum or waste matter of metals, such as rust formed by oxidation. It is thrown off in the process of melting in a refining fire. This is the physical foreshadow of the spiritual lake of fire (Revelation 20:14) — details here.
all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.
God sees false Christians not as fine gems, not even as common metals, but as nothing more than the impure waste off of refined metals.
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
Present-day Jerusalem is a land forsaken and deserted by God (see God’s Chosen People). The apostate Jews were gathered in Jerusalem by God, and brought ancient Babylon’s ways with them, and were burned by literal fire in the bloodiest war in this earth’s history during the second coming of Jesus Christ from late-66 to early-70 AD (see “Coming in the Clouds – Jesus’ Second Coming and The Jewish-Roman War & the Two Witnesses in the Great Tribulation for details).
20 As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.
These are fierce words from God that are the foreshadow of our modern-day. As false Christians gather their worldly belongings and wealth and work them for their purposes, making themselves a name (Genesis 11:4), God will likewise gather them for His purpose unto the place of His wrath.
21 Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
22 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the Lord have poured out my fury upon you.
God warned His apostate people ahead of time that He was coming to destroy their wickedness. “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. ~Romans 12:19 (NKJV)
23 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.
God’s human messengers, Ezekiel and those who are redeemed, are to warn the people of Babylon and the apostate Jews that they are unwashed and filthy, and their robes will not be found washed white by the blood of Jesus at the last day/Jesus’ Second Coming. They will suffer God’s wrath at the Great White Throne Judgment.
25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof,
Our modern-day media propaganda machine has trained everyone to link the word “conspiracy” to lunatics or lies, failing to distinguish between a conspiracy theory and a conspiracy fact.
Documented here in Scripture, we see a combination of men who falsely claim to be receivers of God’s Holy Spirit, have entered into an agreement to commit to evil purposes; to maliciously twist the truths of God’s Word for their own evil agenda, and falsely accuse the innocent redeemed/Truth-tellers. These are the descendants of the synagogue of Satan Jews (Revelation 2:9 & 3:9) who started the Roman Catholic Church (see The Little Horn & the Clay are Jewish! for details). Their greatest work is done in the incorporated church houses (see How Satan is Deceiving You and Seven False Teachers in the Church).
like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls;
The Jewish Sanhedrin preached a false gospel of light/Lucifer prior to 66 AD, and of course, the masses believed them because they were supposed to be the chosen men of God (see The Little Horn & the Clay are Jewish).
The modern-day worldly oath-keeping false Christians have preyed on true Christians and deceived many into believing they are worshiping God and serving Jesus Christ, when in reality, they are just in a social club doing self-righteous, self-serving acts of kindness while believing that Religion Incorporated’s earthly water sent them the Holy Spirit. They support the system of lies and oppression that their leaders create, then rush in like white knights to save the needy and afflicted. All evil men hide behind philanthropic organizations and Christianity.
they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.
These false prophets and fake Christian influencers have replaced God and the Holy Spirit with the false prosperity doctrine and caused the redeemed to turn from the Lord and His allowed tribulations which is our daily cross that we must carry.
Old Testament: The widows are those who were once under covenant with God prior to 70 AD.
New Testament application: This phrase also applies to Jesus’ bride/those redeemed by His blood after the cross in 31 AD, but who are now separated from Him due to following false doctrines.
26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things:
The Jewish Sanhedrin twisted God’s Old Covenant law and profaned all that was holy.
Under the New Covenant of grace, false Christian church leaders have spat on God’s commandments and have twisted His word and deceived His people who may have come to Christ had they heard the Truth (see Seven False Teachers in the Church).
they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean,
Ancient and modern-day Babylon teaches acceptance of the sin, such as homosexuality, same-sex marriage, pornography and pedophilia, under the guise of “love thy neighbor.” Murdering, cheating, lying, fornication, envy and pride all have a “proper place” in the life of a false Christian.
and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
The Old Covenant apostate Jewish rabbis/Sanhedrin were not communing with God on His Sabbath day, but was pursuing their own fame and feeding their pride through their leadership roles in the synagogue.
The modern-day false Christian church leaders have turned their focus away from the eternal Sabbath rest that comes with the washing of the blood of Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. They no longer recognize or teach spiritual communion with God and Jesus but have replaced it with the eating of bread and drinking juice, the reciting of phrases or poems, and other physical rituals (which means nothing of a spiritual nature to the false Christian but sure makes them feel righteous in their own eyes).
27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.
Those held in high regard in Mystery Babylon lead God’s people away from Him by turning their focus onto the things of this world. They flood “Christians” with false acceptance, empty kindness, worldly distractions, and shrewd lies, believing they are helping them, when in reality, they are slowly destroying them financially, mentally, physically and spiritually. They play favorites by supporting those who support their lying ways and severely oppressing and censoring the voices of the true Israel who speak God’s truth.
28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.
Daubed is defined as “smeared thickly.” Untemperance is a lack of moderation/excessive indulgences. “Morter” is a word not found in the original Hebrew text. The first phrase of the verse actually reads “Babylon’s false prophets have thickly smeared themselves and the people with the world’s excessive indulgences, encouraging a lack of moderation in living.” That certainly sounds like the world we live in today.
Those false Christian leaders and prophets claim to speak words from God, but their words are lies of the world. They see vanity, or worldly works and prosperity, as being something of God that He desires us to have. The true Israel picks up and carries their cross daily (Luke 9:23). Our joy and contentment is in what Christ Jesus did for us, the unworthy (Galatians 6:14; 1 Corinthians 1:18).
“Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1). “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:24).
29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
Those in Mystery Babylon have stolen from the people and taxed them to death, creating the working poor and needy class whom they provoke, trouble, agitate and afflict with low salaries, high interest, and unaffordable necessities. They have created the beast system which entraps humanity and they use it to oppress and censor God’s people who are strangers to them. They show favoritism to those like them while oppressing and censoring those who have God’s truths written on the fleshy tables of their hearts (Jeremiah 31:33; Romans 2:15).
The same atrocities were going on in the days of the Old Covenant by the same people… the synagogue of Satan… the scam as old as time.
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
In 66 AD when Jesus returned in wrath to take vengeance on those who literally pierced Him (Revelation 1:7), not one of the priests was found to be in covenant with God. The falling away was complete.
This will again happen at the end of time… not one redeemed leader will be available to speak for the people — all church leaders remaining will have been corrupted and will be participating in the antichrist system. God’s true remnant has been oppressively silenced by the people of Mystery Babylon.
31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.
The fate of 539 B.C. Babylon was the fate of apostate Jerusalem in 70 AD and will soon be the fate of modern-day Mystery Babylon (Revelation 17:17-18).
Nebuchadnezzar’s statue of the 4 Old Covenant era world kingdoms was crushed by the stone of God’s kingdom, Jesus Christ, by 70 AD (see Coming in the Clouds – Jesus’ Second Coming). This ushered in the New Covenant new heaven (Jesus’ reign) and the new earth (those redeemed by grace) — see New Heaven & New Earth is Not What We’ve Been Taught.

Mystery Babylon is Jewish-Roman false Christianity, the Jews-who-are-not in Revelation 2:9 and 3:9, their branches of Freemasonry, Zionism and all secret societies, and their false gods — it is the false prophet system that supports the beast by running the world making the rich richer and the poor poorer, and increasingly demonstrates its detestation and oppression of the true righteous Christians.
