Ask any biblical scholar if Jesus was born on December 25th and the answer will be a resounding “no.” So when was Jesus actually born, and why is He called “the reason for the season?”
The Actual Birth Date of Jesus Christ
Most bible scholars agree that Jesus was born sometime in September. I found an article that can date the exact time of Jesus’ birth to within an 81-minute time frame on September 11, 3 B.C., sometime between 6:18pm and moonset at 7:39pm — the detailed explanation that ties scripture to God’s astronomical clock on that evening can be found here.
Revelation 12:1-2 mentions “…a great wonder [sign] in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: and she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”
Dr. Ernest Martin, history and theology professor, explains Jesus’ birth date calculation:
“The only time in the year that the sun could be in a position to ‘clothe’ the celestial woman called Virgo … is when the sun is located between about 150° and 170° along the ecliptic. This ‘clothing’ of the woman by the sun occurs for a 20-day period each year… In 3 BC., the sun would have entered this celestial region about August 27 and exited from it about September 15.
“In the year 3 BC, these two factors came to precise agreement for about half an hour, as observed from Palestine, in the twilight period of September 11th. The relationship began about 6:15 p.m. (sunset), and lasted until around 7:45p.m. (moonset). This is the only day in the whole year that the astronomical phenomenon described in the twelfth chapter of Revelation could take place.
“This also shows one other important point. The moon was in crescent phase. It was a New Moon day, the start of a new lunar month.” Source here.
The wise men from the East saw the star of the newborn King of the Judahites when it rose (Matthew 2:1-2).
Most scholars estimate the date of Jesus’ birth by counting backward from his death on Passover which they claim was on Nisan 14 (John 19:14-16) in the spring of the year 33 A.D., but nowhere does the bible state that Jesus was crucified in 33 A.D. They are incorrectly assuming that the day of preparation was always a Friday, but it wasn’t (see this article). The year 33 A.D. is the only year that had a Friday Passover around that time frame, which is what causes them to incorrectly assume 33 A.D. was the crucifixion year and thus miscalculate the date of birth.
We are told that Jesus was “about 30 years old” when he began his three-and-a-half-year ministry (Luke 3:23). Jewish tradition in Jesus’ day allowed men to begin teaching in the synagogues at age 30, but I believe He began His ministry before then which is why Luke says “around” age 30.
We know Jesus’ ministry began in the year 27 AD when we study the timeline of the 70 weeks of Daniel (details here), which means His death would have been in 31 AD.
So we have:
- Birth = 3 BC (Fall)
- Ministry = 27 AD (Fall)
- Crucifixion = 31 AD (Spring)
- There is no year zero.
Based on the information above, my personal belief is:
- Jesus was born on the Day of Trumpets, the 1st day of the 7th month of Tishri in the year 3 B.C. (would have been September 11 on our Georgian calendar in that year).
- He began his ministry in 27 AD on his 29th birthday (“around” age 30) which is the Day of Trumpets. Jesus has the voice like a trumpet in Revelation 4:1!
- Jesus was crucified at the age of 32 1/2 on Wednesday, Abib/Nisan 14, in 31 AD.
Note: Nisan 14 is a Lunisolar Calendar date and 31 A.D. is a Roman Julian Calendar date, and I can’t find an online converter for those (please email me if you have a link to one). But scripture proves that Nisan 14 was on a Wednesday during the resurrection week (details here).
Note 2: If you write out each year on paper beginning from a 3 BC birth to a 31 AD death, you will see it is age 32 1/2 when Messiah was crucified. He turned age 1 in 2 BC, age 2 in 1 BC, age 3 in 1 AD, age 4 in 2 AD, etc. In the year 31 AD, Jesus died and resurrected 5-6 months before His 33rd birthday.
Note 3: Nisan 14 is on or close to April 1st on our Gregorian calendar (depending on the changes made to each calendar and who observes them). I do believe the synagogue of Satan made the day of Jesus’ crucifixion or resurrection to be what we know now as April Fool’s Day.
Ideally, if the star anomaly were seen 1 year earlier in 4 BC, then Jesus’ ministry would have begun exactly on His 30th birthday. But Luke did say “around” age 30, and not AT age 30, so that could accommodate for the 3 BC birth, 27 AD ministry, and 31 AD death.
Our bible does not tell us the exact year, month or day of Jesus’ birth; but based on what the bible does tell us, we know it was not in winter (i.e. shepherds were living outdoors, Luke 2:8) and that it was about 32-33 years before His death, based on scripture that references God’s astronomical clock at His birth, and Jewish tradition of teaching at age 30.
I recently heard that the Chinese Han Dynasty had recorded the events surrounding Jesus’ crucifixion in the year 31 A.D. (details in this video). They recorded the sun and moon going dark from 5-8pm their time (noon-3pm Jerusalem time; 6-9pm ancient Roman time) in the “Summer, fourth month on the Day of Ren Wu,” but there is no way of knowing which Lunisolar calendar they were using in 31 AD…. there were 6 different Chinese calendar changes back then and they don’t give us dates as to when each one was put into use. But the Chinese account of a 31 AD crucifixion does line up with the biblical astronomical events that confirms the year of Jesus’ birth in 3 BC.
This changing of calendars and altering of our historical records is to prevent us from knowing the exact dates of importance surrounding our Lord and Messiah, Jesus Christ. But God has preserved the records and His inspired word that He desires us to have.
So Who is the “Reason for the Season?”
There’s a spirit behind the December 25th day of Christmas, but it certainly does not come from God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. On the surface, I’d call it consumerism and capitalism; but when we go further back in history, we find 6 incredibly sinister reasons for the season:
1) Christmas is the Worship of Pagan Gods
Not only is Christmas not Jesus’ birthday, it has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus — it is a pagan celebration that began about 3 months after Jesus was born in the year 3 B.C.
Mid- to late-December has been the time of the worship of pagan gods which centers around Saturnalia — it is an ancient pagan Roman festival of 1-12 days of lawlessness honoring the agricultural sun god Saturn (the length of the festival grew as time went on).
The activities of this festival include human sacrifice, drunkeness, orgies, and going house-to-house while singing naked. Gifts or sacrifices were offered to the gods during the winter sowing season. Saturnalia was the most popular holiday on the ancient Roman calendar, and sun god worship is still widely practiced today (see the end of this article for reference links on how God’s people have been tricked into sun god worship).
2) Christmas Disguises Paganism as a Holy Day
The time of worship of the sun/Saturn on Saturnalia, culminated on December 25th. On the Julian calendar which the ancient Romans used, the winter solstice was on December 25th.
It is said that church leaders chose the date of December 25th “to coincide with the pagan Roman festival marking the ‘birthday of the unconquered sun,’” at the time of the winter solstice (source: Encyclopedia Britannica). Many scholars believe that this was done “in order to make Christianity more meaningful to pagan converts” (source: The Encyclopedia Americana). Of course, we know these apostate church leaders are not of our God, but are of the antichrist spirit.
The mistletoe, tree, lights, wreath and Santa all have pagan origins. Caroling was done in nakedness. Santa is the pagan god Odin.

The word “holiday” means “holy day,” but it is a false holiness rooted in pagan deity worship that is not of Jesus and God the Father.
3) Christmas Promotes Lying
This author is not alone in finding out from a cousin or a friend that our parents had been lying to us all of our lives about Santa being “real.” Who cares about Santa — it was the trust in my parents that suffered because they caused me to be a fool by believing in a lie; and sadly, most of us went on to perpetuate the lie onto our own children.
Revelation 21:8b says “….sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” God sees a lie as a lie. There are not white lies, or good lies, or little lies, or polite lies; but only lies which is sin.
In Proverbs 6:16-19, God tells us there are 7 things that are an abomination to Him, and 2 of the 7 have to do with lying: “a lying tongue” and “a false witness that speaketh lies.”
4) Santa was Given the Characteristics of God
Here are the characteristics given to “Saint” Nick:
- He has a list of the good and bad people.
- He supernaturally knows who has been good and bad.
- Santa gives rewards to the good and coal to the bad.
- He knows when you’re asleep. He knows when you’re awake.
- Santa comes in the sky.
- Children are taught to sit on Santa’s lap (ugh) and tell him all their desires.
- Santa comes as a thief in the night.
- Santa has the Christmas spirit.
- We look forward to Santa’s “coming” to town.
Are ALL of these very specific characteristics just happenstance?
- Only God is all-knowing (Proverbs 15:3).
- Only God can see us all in all places (Jeremiah 23:24).
- Only God gives everlasting rewards (Revelation 22:12).
- Only God has a book of all of our names (Revelation 20:15).
- Only Jesus is coming in the sky (Mark 14:62).
- Only Jesus will come supernaturally as a thief in the night (Revelation 16:15).
- Only God gives us the one righteous Spirit, the Holy Spirit (Thessalonians 4:8).
- Only God should know the desires of our heart — we should go before His throne only (Philippians 4:6; Hebrews 4:16).
- JESUS IS THE SAVIOR WHOSE COMING WE ANTICIPATE (Revelation 22:20).
Santa was given characteristics of God and Christ to have the masses worshiping and chasing after a false Christ during a holydays / “holiday” season. When you say “Happy Holydays” (that’s what “holidays” means), you are literally celebrating the pagan winter solstice season… the holydays of a false Messiah. The word “Christmas” is Roman and is “Christ Mass” — a false Christ Luciferian worship service. This should be an obvious deception to any called-out saint…. read the characteristics of Santa and of God again. You can’t NOT see it.
Those innocent, poor babies and children who scream and cry at the sight of Santa know something their uneducated worldly hive-mind parents do not!
5) Christmas Exposes Satan
The Evergreen Tree
The evergreen doesn’t die in winter, so during the winter solstice, pagans started bringing the trees into their houses as a symbol of everlasting life. They worshipped these trees and believed they were sacred. God has a special tree too: The Tree of Life. Satan cannot create; he can only imitate God.
He Resides in the North
Santa lives up North. Isaiah 14:13 tells us that God sits in the sides of the North:
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isaiah 14:13
The Name
The letters in S A N T A spells S A T A N.
Christmas was Banned for Satanical Practices
A statute was passed in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1659 by the Pilgrim saints who were English separatist Puritans (that was 117 years before America was subverted by its anti-christ Enlightenment Deist founding “fathers” who took over in 1776 — sources here, here, here, here and here).
The public notice read:

“Public Notice: The observation of Christmas having been deemed a Sacrilege, the exchanging of Gifts and Greetings, dressing in Fine Clothing, Feasting and similar Satanical Practices are hereby FORBIDDEN with the Offender liable to a Fine of Five Shillings.”
6) Christmas is Not Biblical
None of the disciples celebrated Christmas. Jesus did not celebrate Christmas. Christmas is not found anywhere in the bible. December 25th is the birthday of the unconquered sun. But Jesus is the reason for the season??
There is one verse in the bible where God talks about “heathens” decking their trees with silver and gold — WE MUST HEED GOD’S WARNING HERE IF WE ARE TO ABIDE IN HIM:
2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Jeremiah 10:2-4
Some are telling me that the above verse means they were cutting down trees to make idols and decorating those with silver and gold so has nothing to do with a Christmas tree. lol Go a few verses down and read Jeremiah 10:8 in the original Hebrew language:
Jer 10:8 ובאחתH259 יבערוH1197 ויכסלוH3688 מוסרH4148 הבליםH1892 עץH6086 הוא׃H1931
It says: “United [they] burn, foolish discipline of vanity is the tree itself.” It doesn’t say “the idol itself,” but THE TREE because they admired the vain work.
Christmas trees are cut, fastened in a stand, have silver and gold put on them, one spends God’s given resources to buy them, a lot of time vested to fashion them up, then admires them for a month with awe. If one can’t see that is raging idolatry that breaks one of only two commandments that Jesus gave us, then they may need to spend some time in fasting and prayer.
Did Jesus die so one can practice idolatry? Does God’s living Word have an expiry date? Did God state these things in His word for no reason? Or did He foresee His elect being deceived and acting like the heathens who are fashioning trees and erecting them in their homes as centerpieces during a pagan winter solstice celebration? Despite how you try to spin it, Jesus is NOT the reason for that season, so what is the Lord telling us here?
“COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and receive my wrath!” ~Revelation 18:4
Truth is unpopular for a reason. But when we know better, we can do better, and repent and turn back to Father God and His Son who is celebrated every second of everyday…. the celebration of Jesus isn’t seasonal. God bless.
